Life and business coaching is a way of helping others to find the skills within themselves so that they can set goals in their lives or work and move forward in a structured manner to achieve these goals.
Through the coaching process an individual may visualise one major goal, for example returning to work, which can then be subdivided into much smaller goals. On completion of each of the smaller goals the individual is one step closer to his/her main objective.
Alternatively, an individual may require guidance in the setting of a smaller goal – such as effective time management, which, when achieved, will pave the way for success in many other areas of his/her life.
As coaching progresses, people begin to ask themselves the kinds of questions their coach would ask them – and find the answers for themselves. Coaching, in other words, can teach people how to coach themselves. It arms people with a set of skills that can be used and reused throughout their lives.
